OOC: History

Ezekiel ("Zeke") joined the Ghost Wolves at the age of twenty-eight, leaving a life of petty crime on the streets of Midgar and trading his name for a chance at glory. Fast hands and an intuition for machinery and basic electronics made him an asset both for setting and disarming explosives and, despite his inexperience, he was moved from basic infantry to the support squads at the outset of the Trade Wars, a dark time which saw mercs pitted against mercs in a cut-throat underworld battle to secure access to trade routes, suppliers and storage depots across Midgar. It was in this heated time that Zeke made the one mistake that nearly cost him his life: a warehouse he had rigged for demolition blew up prematurely as he was setting the last charges, catching him in the blast. Flying debris slammed into his body, tearing great rents in his flesh and peppering him with shrapnel. When his team dragged him from the wreckage he was in impressively poor condition but still conscious and lucid, able to direct the retreat from the hot zone without taking further casualties to the opposing squads now roaming the area. Reconstructive work was within the mission budget and the doctors did the best they could, leaving him with an impressive array of scars and a slight but noticeable limp, but his left arm and eye were beyond saving. He was fitted with a crude prosthetic arm, little more than a claw, and retired to the workshops where he maintained and repaired the Wolves motor pool for three years.

You can't keep a good man down, and a good soldier is even harder to subdue. With access to the machine shop and the mind and fingers for the job, Zeke got busy and, when the three years were up, he had a neat facsimile of a human arm grafted to the stump in place of the original claw. Function was more important than form to him, so although the limb works as well as an organic arm (excepting the constant slight whine of servos and the need for regular maintenance), it is mildly shocking to look at, hence Zeke's penchant for long leather gauntlets. Able-bodied once more, and stronger and swifter than ever, Zeke rejoined the active ranks and took command of Bandit team approximately four years ago. He has customised a lot of his equipment himself, including what was a stock Isham CX5 cybernetic eye (now retrofitted with a limited capacity to see outside the visible spectrum) and his personal weapons.

Since rejoining the active list, Zeke has led Bandit team from strength to strength, and they are now ranked among the top teams in the field of demolitions and infiltration. He tends to maintain a looser control over his subordinates than most, preferring that they take the initiative and accept the consequences.

Away from the field, Zeke can often be found in the machine shop, tinkering or simply lost in the moment, studying a piece of machinery. He tends to prefer solitude and quiet over the raucous atmosphere typically present at Ghost Wolf gatherings, but he plays a mean game of poker on occasion.
